Let me Teach your Group
Are you looking for an in-depth, multi-session study of the writings of St. Francis and/or St. Clare of Assisi? I love the consistency allowed by an intensive class which allows us time to dive deep and to dive across a wide range of the writings for a fuller understanding of the big picture. I have lots of experience teaching including 22 semester spent teaching Service Learning at Salem College and short classes at St. Matthew’s in Charlotte, for Capuchin Franciscan postulants in New York City and Secular Franciscans and Religious when I taught at the Franciscan Institute of St. Bonaventure University in 2016. I’d love to talk to you about how to best fit your schedule and needs.
Sample Formats for Teaching on the Writings of St. Francis and St. Clare
Maybe these examples of past formats will help you imagine the best format for your purposes.
- 1. 5 hours, once per week for 4 weeks (offered at a parish with a robust adult education program in Charlotte).
- 6 hours over the course of 3 days (offered at a Capuchin Franciscan postulant house in NYC).
- 14 1-hour classes (offered 12-1pm weekly at a parish mission located in downtown Winston-Salem).
- 3 hours per day for 5 days (Monday-Friday) + bonus afternoon “field trips” + bonus evening social time (offered at the Franciscan Institute during the summer).
These are just examples to get the conversation going. You will find that I am adaptable, flexible and very easy to work with when it comes to logistics of planning a class.
So, Julie, be honest, are you boring?
I have spent hundreds of hours in front of people. I’m just going to be blunt here and tell you that the vast majority of the time (around 99%), I look around a room and the people listening to me are a.)awake b.)alert c.)engaged d.)thinking e.)listening and f.)enjoying the topics and the way I teach. I have lots of references to provide to you. It won’t be boring.
